Polperro Part 6 - Fishing!

You can't go on holiday to a fishing village in Cornwall and not go fishing! Can you??!?!

My fearless and intrepid brother in law, Ant, set off early one morning to book us onto a trip onboard 'The Smuggler'. Back at the cottage we secretly had or fingers crossed that it would be fully booked as the sea was looking a little bit choppy...but he came back victorious, we were booked in and leaving in 10 minutes!

Sea sickness tablets were quickly thrown down the hatch, and we headed round the harbour to meet our skipper, Ollie Puckey (who we know quite well now as this is actually our third fishing trip with him!) who welcomed us aboard 'The Smuggler'.

Everything was nice and calm as we cruised out of the harbour past our cottage and out to sea...

...Where things immediately got a little bit livelier much to my sister, Katie's displeasure!

Dad was the first one 'in' and Ollie quickly stepped in to whip the mackeral off the line and into the keep net!

Kate's mind was quickly off the choppiness as her latest worry was finding a fish on the end of her line!

And another!

Emma wasn't as lucky and just had a couple of hours of winding in and casting back out!

I did catch one, but I had my camera round my neck at the time, so sadly there is no photographic evidence!

Success! On the way back in the water calmed and the sun shone down on our haul of....4 mackeral!

Skipper Ollie quickly 'prepared' the fish for us so that we could cook them at home. Kate wasn't a fan of this part of the proceedings!

The view of Polperro that you can only get from a boat - beautiful.

Polperro Part 5 - The Smugglers Rest

So back to walking! This is one of our favourite walking stops, The Smugglers Rest at Talland Bay.

Days that we decide not to bring a picnic on our walks, we stop for lunch here. It doesn't matter what the weather is like, it's great sat outside, either wrapped up warm with a hot chocolate watching the waves crash onto the beach or basking in the sun with a jug of Pimms! It doesn't get much better!

And the not so sunny day!

Dreamcatcher Bridal store

In the build up to the Lytham Hall Bridal Fashion shoot (coming soon!) I went along to Dreamcatcher Bridal in Kirkham to attend the dress fittings for our models.

Gill and Georgina, the ladies who own Dreamcatcher, had asked if I could take some 'detail' shots of some of their accessories as they are currently redesigning their website and need some new photography content.

The shop is an absolutely beautiful space, with huge dressing rooms for brides to try on anything they want!

Dreamcatcher have such a beautiful range of dresses, jewellery, shoes - everything a bride needs!

Gill and Georgina are actually Mother and Daughter and the personal, family touch really shows in the service they provide.

I always think that brides get an unrivalled experience when they choose a dress from Dreamcatcher. Everytime they go back in for more fittings, bridesmaid fittings, etc. they're greeted like old friends. Gill and Georgina love being a part of the bride's preparations and are true experts in bridal wear and accessories.

Shots from the bridal shoot that I did with Dreamcatcher, Flower Design and Lytham Hall are coming soon where you'll be able to see even more gorgeous dresses and accessories from Dreamcatcher!

Polperro Part 4 - Pubs!

I couldn't write about a holiday in a Cornish fishing village and not show you a couple of our favourite 'locals' could I???

This is the Noughts and Crosses - a convenient watering hole which we regularly stop at when heading out for dinner at our favourite Polperro restaurant!

The Three Pilchards now - a couple of years ago Emma and I stayed in the cottage directly outside it's front door. We could get from our cottage to the pub by jumping between the doorways - we didn't even have to step on the path!

And finally the quite magnificent Blue Peter - the last pub before France! There's a t-shirt behind the bar that we keep threatening to buy bearing the legend "I got wrecked in the Blue Peter"! Maybe one day!
